Ingredients
  

For the Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup cold water
For the Filling
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Method
 

Make the Dough
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add the cold water, stirring until the dough forms a ball.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Prepare the Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
Assemble the Danishes
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Cut the dough into squares, and place a spoonful of filling in the center of each square.
  4. Fold the corners of the dough over the filling to create a pocket, pinching to seal.
  5. Place the assembled danishes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on a wire rack.
Glaze the Danishes
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the warm danishes before serving.
