Bruschetta is a classic Italian appetizer featuring toasted bread topped with a mixture of fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil, and olive oil.

Ingredients
  

For the Base
  • 1 loaf baguette sliced into 1/2-inch thick pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for brushing the bread
For the Topping
  • 4 medium ripe tomatoes diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves chopped
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Method
 

Prepare the Bread
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Arrange the sliced baguette on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Make the Topping
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper.
  2. Toss gently until all ingredients are well mixed.
Assemble the Bruschetta
  1. Remove the toasted bread from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  2. Top each slice of toasted bread with a generous spoonful of the tomato mixture.
  3. Serve immediately while the bread is still warm.

Notes
