For the Base
  • 1 package puff pastry sheets thawed
  • 1 egg egg beaten for egg wash
For the Cream Cheese Filling
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk
For the Topping
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

Prepare the Pastry
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into squares (about 4x4 inches).
Make the Cream Cheese Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and egg yolk. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  2. Set the cream cheese filling aside.
Assemble the Danish
  1. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese filling in the center of each puff pastry square.
  2. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a diamond shape and seal the edges.
Bake the Danish
  1. Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
Add the Topping
  1. Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  2. Top each Danish with fresh blueberries and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
