  • 9 lasagna noodles (traditional or no-boil)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onions in olive oil until soft. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper; let simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. In the greased baking dish, spread some sauce on the bottom. Layer with noodles, ricotta cheese (mix in an egg for creaminess if desired), more sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
