Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup Halloween sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. For the brownie batter, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla extract. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder; gradually add to the wet mixture along with half of the chocolate chips.
  3. For the cookie dough, cream additional butter with granulated and brown sugars until smooth. Beat in an egg and vanilla extract before incorporating flour. Fold in remaining chocolate chips and half of the sprinkles.
  4. Layer half of the brownie batter in the prepared dish, dollop cookie dough on top without spreading too thin, then layer remaining brownie batter and finish with leftover sprinkles.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until set but gooey in the middle; a toothpick should come out slightly moist.
  6. Allow to cool before slicing into squares.

Keywords: Let brownies cool slightly before adding the cookie layer to avoid melting. Feel free to swap chocolate chips for white chocolate or peanut butter chips for added flavor.
