  • 2 cups whole milk

  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). For the crust, mix graham cracker crumbs with melted butter until combined. Press firmly into a pie pan and bake for 10 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add whole milk while stirring until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and whisk egg yolks in another bowl until lightened. Slowly incorporate some hot chocolate mixture into yolks before returning it to the saucepan.
  4. Cook on low heat, stirring continuously for about 5-7 minutes until thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract and half of the heavy cream. Pour filling into cooled crust and cover with plastic wrap directly on the filling to prevent skin formation.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
