  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp five-spice powder
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, five-spice powder, minced garlic, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Place chicken thighs in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour half of the marinade over them. Seal and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (overnight is best).
  4. Remove chicken from the marinade and place it in the prepared baking dish. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  5. Brush reserved marinade over the chicken halfway through baking for extra flavor and glaze.
