Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pistachios
  • 1/2 cup honey

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, salt, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Gradually mix in flour and softened butter to form a smooth dough. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until elastic.
  3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Meanwhile, mix chopped nuts, sugar, cinnamon, and honey in a bowl to create the filling.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle about ½ inch thick; spread melted butter over it and evenly sprinkle the nut mixture.
  6. Roll into a log from one long edge; seal edges and slice into two-inch thick buns.
  7. Place buns cut-side-up in a greased baking dish. Let rise for another 30 minutes as you preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake for approximately 25 minutes until golden brown. Drizzle with extra honey before serving.
